The first book is the work of the author Dr. Maruša Gorišek and is entitled Meritocracy and the knowledge society: Different views on meritocratic criteria and the role of experts in society. The published book is the author’s doctoral dissertation. The author deals with topics such as modern societies as knowledge societies and risk societies, the influence of meritocracy on various social processes, meritocracy and the covid-19 epidemic in Slovenia, etc. At the end, she states the key findings of the doctoral dissertation and some directions for the future. The book was reviewed by PhD Igor Bahovec – supervisor of the author’s doctoral dissertation, Dr. Frane Adam – co-supervisor of the author’s doctoral dissertation, Dr. Matej Makarovič and Dr. Borut Rončević.
The second book is the work of the author Dr. Blaž Mesec and is entitled Qualitative research in theory and practice. The book serves as a didactic aid for students engaged in qualitative research during their studies. In the book, the author deals with topics such as the epistemological foundations of qualitative methodology, qualitative research strategies, coding, experimental theory, etc. He also lists concrete examples of qualitative research at the IRSA Institute. The book was reviewed by Dr. Liljana RIhter from the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Ljubljana and Dr. Darka Podmenik – external associate of the IRSA Institute.
